E-SafetyPro Development Roadmap

e-SafetyPro is an evolving platform designed to modernize safety management through practical digital tools, real-time data, and streamlined workflows. The roadmap below outlines planned enhancements across our suite of inspections, JHAs, risk assessment, and project safety applications.

Each item represents a future capability aligned with one core goal: helping organizations identify hazards earlier, close corrective actions faster, and demonstrate risk reduction with complete transparency.

JHA DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP – RISK-BASED CONTROLS & CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

This section outlines the future direction of the e-SafetyPro Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) engine. The goal is to move beyond static forms toward a risk-based JHA system that quantifies severity and probability, tracks corrective actions, and demonstrates risk reduction over time – fully aligned with regulatory expectations.

From Hazard Profile to Quantified Risk

The next generation JHA will calculate a risk profile for each task by combining three elements:

  • Hazard profile – the underlying exposure (e.g., work at heights, excavation, cranes, asbestos, lead, electrical work) and its credible worst-case outcome.
  • Answers to critical activity (CAP) questions – whether the minimum set of engineering and system controls is in place for the activity.
  • Amplifiers / control quality factors – how strong or weak the surrounding management system is (supervision, clarity of procedures, training, planning, contractor alignment, time pressure, etc.).

Severity will be driven primarily by the hazard profile (the nature of the work and potential consequences). Probability will be influenced by the presence or absence of CAP controls and by the strength of these amplifiers. In practice, the user will answer a focused set of questions and the JHA engine will convert those responses into severity and probability scores for each task.

Amplifiers Treated as Mandatory Control Ratings

In this model, β€œamplifiers” are treated as control quality indicators rather than abstract factors. Each amplifier is rated using a simple scale (for example, 1 to 5), where low numbers represent strong control and high numbers indicate weak or absent control. Typical amplifiers may include:

  • Supervision quality and presence of competent persons
  • Clarity and use of work methods / JHA / procedures
  • Training and experience of the crew for the specific task
  • Quality of planning and pre-task briefings
  • Alignment between general contractor and subcontractor systems
  • Level of schedule and production pressure

These ratings will be mandatory fields, similar to the existing Project Complexity Index approach. The result is a consistent, auditable view of how well the organization is managing the conditions that drive the probability of an incident.

JHA Controls Dashboard

A dedicated JHA Controls Dashboard will allow organizations to see JHA performance in one place and track how risk is being managed across projects and portfolios. Planned capabilities include:

  • Overview of all JHAs, with task descriptions, key hazards, and risk levels.
  • Counts of hazards by severity band, project, contractor, or work type.
  • Heat maps showing where amplifiers (e.g., supervision, planning) are consistently weak.
  • Trend views comparing JHA quality and control strength over time.
  • Drill-through to individual JHAs for detailed review and follow-up.

This dashboard will build on the same data model used for the Inspection Control Center and Project Risk analytics, providing a unified view of risk across JHAs, inspections, and complexity assessments.

Applying the Corrective Actions Module (CAM) to JHAs

A key development step will be extending the existing e-SafetyPro Corrective Actions Module, used today in the Inspection Tool, to selected JHA deficiencies. Where the JHA identifies missing or inadequate controls, those items can be converted into tracked corrective actions with a clear lifecycle:

  • Open – control requirement identified but not yet addressed.
  • Closed – corrective action implemented by the responsible party.
  • Verified – closure confirmed by a competent or authorized verifier.

The expectation for critical deficiencies is that 100% must be addressed. This supports regulatory compliance, internal standards, and client requirements by creating a clear and auditable trail from hazard identification through to effective control.

Demonstrating Risk Reduction Through Corrective Actions

By capturing both the initial JHA assessment and the subsequent corrective actions, the system will support before-and-after analysis. Organizations will be able to show how risk was reduced by:

  • Strengthening basic controls (e.g., permits, rescue plans, fall protection, excavation safeguards).
  • Improving clarity and usability of procedures and work instructions.
  • Providing additional training and coaching to the crews performing the work.
  • Improving supervision, planning, and coordination between project parties.
  • Re-rating amplifiers to reflect improved control after actions are completed.

Over time, this allows the JHA process to evolve from a one-time document into a living risk management tool that shows how controls are strengthened and how exposure is reduced.

Built on the Existing e-SafetyPro Platform

These JHA enhancements are designed to build on what already exists in e-SafetyPro today:

  • The current JHA Prompter and hazard libraries.
  • The Critical Activities (CAP) framework and inspection modules.
  • The Inspection Control Center and CAM-Lite lifecycle.
  • The unified JSON and Power BI analytics model used across tools.

As these capabilities are developed, they will be introduced in phases, with an emphasis on stability, simplicity for field users, and strong alignment with recognized standards and regulatory expectations.

Note: The features described on this page represent the planned development direction for the e-SafetyPro JHA engine. Exact functionality, timing, and implementation details may evolve as the platform continues to be tested and refined.

AI-Enhanced JHA (Planned)

A future version of the e-SafetyPro JHA Prompter will offer an optional AI-assisted hazard recognition layer. This feature supplements the existing JHA workflow by identifying additional hazards and controls that users may overlook.

The planned workflow includes:

  • User completes the standard JHA using existing hazard lists and CAP questions.
  • The input is analyzed by an AI model trained on the hazard database and CAP logic.
  • AI suggests additional hazards, contributing factors, or controls relevant to the described task.
  • Each suggestion is tagged as:
    • User selected
    • AI suggested
    • Both user & AI selected
  • Users may accept or dismiss AI recommendations (AI does not auto-add items).
  • The final report will include a section explaining AI-identified hazards and rationale.

This optional feature enhances consistency, coaching, and hazard recognition qualityβ€”especially for complex tasks or newer staffβ€”while ensuring complete user control and transparency.

AI suggestions will not alter any underlying hazard libraries or CAP requirements. The feature is designed strictly as a learning and quality-improvement enhancement.
